What is Medical Coding CPC Certificate ?


The Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is the highest standard for medical coding in a physician office setting. The CPC certification exam assesses the competencies required to work as a professional coder who specializes in coding for services provided by physicians and non-physician clinicians (for example, nurse practitioners and physician assistants). Individuals who hold the CPC credential have demonstrated skill in physician/non-physician provider documentation review, abstract professional provider encounters, coding proficiency with CPT, HCPCS Level II, ICD-10-CM, and compliance and regulatory requirements for physician services.

What about CPC Exam ?

The CPC exam is a medical coding competence test that consists of 100 multiple-choice questions covering 17 areas of study. The majority of questions present a coding scenario to evaluate the correct application of CPT® procedure codes, HCPCS Level II supply codes, and ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes, all of which are used by medical providers to submit claims to payers. To pass the CPC exam, you must complete it within four hours and properly answer 70% of the questions, whether you take it online or in person.
